The Batgirl Conspiracy

We all know the DC Extended Universe is failing. Their 5 films have an average rating of 52 on Metacritic, and 48 on Rotten Tomatoes. Justice League, despite having DC’s 3 biggest heroes in it, made the same amount of money that Marvel’s Black Panther made in just 4 days. Clearly, things are not going well for Warner Brothers’ cinematic universe. Zack Snyder has been at the head of the DCEU, and has directed 3 of their 5 films.

It was announced in May 2017 that Zack Snyder had stepped down as director to deal with the loss of his daughter. Joss Whedon, who was brought on in March to write and direct the Batgirl movie, was asked to take over directing duties for the rest of Justice League’s production. Joss Whedon direct both Avengers movies, so he knew how to work with super hero teams. But here’s the catch. I believe that there was never a Batgirl movie being planned, and that Warner Brothers simply used this as a cover, because they hired Joss Whedon to do the Justice League reshoots after they fired Zack Snyder.

Okay, hear me out. Last month rumors started circulating that Zack Snyder was actually fired from Justice League, and didn’t leave on his own. Josh L. Dickey is an entertainment reporter who left the industry, but before he left, he dropped a couple bombs because he was in “DGAF mode.” He mentioned that Snyder was fired, but no one could/would mention it without seeming insensitive about his family’s situation. Collider then backed up the story, saying that their sources claimed Snyder’s original cut was “unwatchable.” In February of 2018, Warner Brothers announced that Joss Whedon was leaving Batgirl because he “didn’t have a story.” This is where we can put all of our clues together to come up with the narrative.

Zack Snyder was forced out of Justice League in January or February. Warner Bros hired Whedon to take over in March, but claimed he was working on Batgirl. They then only told the public in May that Whedon was on board because he was already working with DC. After Justice League came out on DVD, and the Justice League hype was over, they announced Joss Whedon was leaving Batgirl because he “didn’t have a story.” Of course he didn’t have a story, there was never a Batgirl movie to begin with, it was all a cover for the firing of Zack Snyder.
